Teaching and Learning Materials for Semester 1, Academic Year 2026
1.Course Database Management (9653005-67)
Basic knowledge of database systems and the role of a Database Management System (DBMS) is an essential foundation for efficient data storage and management. A database system is an organized collection of related data that enables accurate retrieval and updating of information. Data within the database is stored in the form of interconnected tables that maintain relationships with one another. A Database Management System (DBMS) is used to manage the database efficiently. The DBMS is responsible for organizing and controlling data, reducing data redundancy, and enhancing data security through operations such as inserting, deleting, updating, and retrieving data. A DBMS is a major component of a database system, which consists of hardware, software, data, users, and operational procedures. Therefore, system developers and database administrators need to understand these concepts in order to design and utilize databases appropriately and achieve maximum efficiency and effectiveness
